Wonder, joy, despair and anger! All these feelings went through those people, who could finally see the traces of the 30 000 Soviet inhabitants and countless shooting practices at the former naval base of Porkkala in January of 1956. Gravestones had been used as foundations of buildings, as building material for bridges and as steps, the forests had been felled or shot to pieces and many findings were waiting inside the buildings. At Inis farm in Degerby there was a pigsty in the attic and the roof of the barn had been used as a landing platform for helicopters.
